Coach & Horses
About This Spot
Nestled in the heart of Fenny Bentley, the Coach & Horses carries the gentle warmth and charm of a classic British pub where time slows just enough for you to settle in and appreciate good company and honest cooking. The moment you step inside, you’re embraced by a quietly bustling space where the murmur of conversation blends effortlessly with the soft clink of glasses and the inviting scent of home-cooked meals being prepared.
This is a place where the pace is unhurried, the atmosphere congenial, and the welcome genuine—perfect for lingering over a Sunday roast or gathering with friends to unwind after a day exploring the Derbyshire countryside. The pub’s heart is found not only in its wood-beamed interiors and friendly staff but in the way it quietly promises a moment of simple pleasure and genuine care.
Food here feels like an extension of that warmth, presented with the kind of comfort and careful attention that evokes memories of a well-loved family meal. Whether it’s the golden pull of a Yorkshire pudding accompanying a roast pork dinner or the sweet, sticky allure of a traditional toffee pudding, every dish invites you to slow down and savor the rich, familiar flavors of British pub fare.
Drinks flow as comfortably as the conversation, with a thoughtfully curated wine list and a selection of beers that have clearly found a loyal following among locals and visitors alike. For those who appreciate mindful pairing, the menu makes room for you to enjoy a glass that enhances the hearty plates without rush or fuss.
Throughout the year, whether on a crisp autumn evening or during the festive bustle of the holidays, the Coach & Horses manages to feel like a steady hearth in a changing world. It’s a spot where care extends beyond the plate—creating an experience that is as much about the atmosphere and connections forged around the table as it is about the food itself.

A fantastic pub serving home cooked meals at excellent value for money. The wine menu is also very reasonably priced. A 3 course meal with a bottle of wine for 2 people was less than a £100. Service was delivered efficiently even after the pub had a very busy day/evening and we were one of the last to dine. Definitely one to return to in the future.

The best pub food we have had in a very long time. Ordered Lamb casserole with herby dumpling and Duck with black pudding. Sides of mash, broccoli, carrot and red cabbage. All cooked to perfection and so tasty. Lemon cheesecake to share was also amazing. A solid 10/10. Shame we don't live closer!

We went for a pre Christmas meal with a group of 8 of us on 12th December 2025. Absolutely lovely warm friendly pub, the service was fantastic and the food was really excellent, infact one of the best meals we had as a group it was really wow!!. We will definitely be going back, Lots of veg you can pile on with your main meal also had a dessert too and it was the best dessert I've ever had anywhere Highly recommend this lovely pub!

I ordered the lamb burger & my son had the cheese burger, all very hot & extremely delicious. We both had the chocolate sponge pudding with chocolate sauce which was equally superb. I would definitely eat here again if in the area. We ate outside which is at the front of the pub next to the road, no back garden if you have younger children.

A first class choice when celebrating a wedding anniversary and a first class evening, when one can relax and know the food is,great , especially for my wife who has to have Gluten Free food, which make it an even more enjoyable evening with that security for her. The food was excellent in every way, hot tasty, and full of flavour. Added to that the excellent atmosphere of the place and the brilliant staff made it a great place and a great evening.

First time here at the Coach and Horses. Very welcoming owners and we were made to feel very welcome. The food is absolutely delicious and the lamb casserole was so tasty and lovely fresh veg! Super speedy service, portion sizes are great and fantastic value. I was full after the main course but it was so lovely I had to squeeze in a dessert and the crème brûlée didn’t disappoint, it was perfect. All in all a lovely place to eat and would 110% recommend and we will definitely visit again next time we are in the area

Called in here about 7pm for a pint and assess menu for future possible dining. Menus attached … choose for yourself. Getting quite busy so suggest booking a table in advance if you want to dine. Looks like small bar area with a couple of tables, a separate ‘side’ room with about 5 tables and another area with about 8 rooms. Looking at meals for others that came out seems good food/hot and tasty if menu suites.
